Basic

UL-3398 style hookup wire series for audio equipment with excellent heat and voltage resistance, using precision conductor "102 SSC" and "XLPE" insulation.

Both black and white color outer sheath of 14AWG, 16AWG, 18AWG and 22AWG wires are available.

Features

"102 SSC" - Oyaide Electric Precision Conductor

  • To avoid impurities as much as possible, only virgin copper that does not contain any recycled copper is used in accordance with JIS C1011.
  • Peeling process is applied to remove 100% of impurities attached to the surface.
  • In order to facilitate the flow of electrical signals through the surface layer of the conductor, the strand is made finer using a natural diamond die to improve the surface smoothness of the strand.
  • The stranded wire is processed with a processing accuracy of ±1μm, far exceeding the standard error tolerance of ±8μm.
  • Two annealing processes are used to eliminate mechanical stress distortions in the strands.
  • Thorough product control of manufacturing control values, maintenance, shipping days, etc. Achieved the highest conductivity of 102.3% IACS.

Features of the 3398 Series

  • The "3398 Series" of internal hookup wires for audio equipment uses the precision conductor "102SSC".
  • Complies with the U.S. UL Standard AWM Style 3398 (except 3398-SY).
  • Oyaide Electric's original "102SSC" precision conductor for audio applications is used.
  • XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene), whose molecular structure has been reinforced by electron beam irradiation, is used as the insulator.
  • XLPE has high heat resistance (rated 150°C), high withstand voltage (rated 300 V, peak voltage 600 V), and is not easily melted by soldering heat.
  • In addition to three conductor sizes (16AWG/18AWG/22AWG), a single-core shield wire (3398-SY- non UL style) is also available.
  • The 3398-SY has a spiral shield consisting of 34 strands, eliminating gaps between strands and providing excellent shielding effect. PVC is used for the outer sheath to ensure excellent flexibility.
  • It can be used for a wide range of applications, including internal wiring of amplifiers and speakers and self-made audio cables.
  • All 3398 wires are compliant with RoHS2 .
